The following table is comprised of the latest available statistics of animal use in research and teaching in Australia. These statistics should be used for general purposes only.

• Note that due to inconsistencies between the different states' monitoring systems, the table does not reflect the degree of suffering involved nor does it indicate the type of study, eg. observational, medical research, agricultural etc. 
• As at the time of posting, Northern Territory and ACT statistics had not been obtained.
