Special effects makeup told the story on Better off Dead?

The theme for the final poster in the series was long-term testing on animals. On monkeys this can be up to 32 years duration. The message was that maybe they would be better off dead rather than having to endure the terrible procedures that await them in the laboratory. Any animal that survives testing is killed anyway. The model's lips were sewn shut to symbolise that, once in a laboratory, no-one can hear an animal scream.

Postcard campaign - How would you feel? In March of 2006 The Body Shop was bought out by L'Oreal. As a result CCF has removed The Body Shop from the Preferred Products List. CCF is the only organisation in the world with criteria that the parent and all subsidiary companies must be accredited as cruelty-free.

This won't hurt a bit The first in the series, created to highlight the reactions to product testing. The model said: "When they started piling on the make-up I couldn't stop laughing. After my eye was glued shut it began to get uncomfortable. After an hour standing under hot lights with an eye glued shut and chemicals covering one side of my face I had definitely had enough. But my discomfort was nothing compared to what animals that are tested on go through on a daily and continuing basis, for the whole of their lives. They don't have the luxury of pain-free chemicals, nor of removing them after a short time. In the hope of helping animals suffering this terrible abuse I would definitely do it all again."

Say NO to FUR TV Presenter Suzie Wilks posed for the campaign poster. She said, "I am shocked and disgusted at the thought of people wearing fur as a fashion statement. The shallow designers and people who participate in or support this barbaric, unnecessary business of killing these beautiful animals for their coats should hang heads low and be ashamed, very ashamed."
